Festival Concert

Brahms, Robert and Clara Schumann

This concert will celebrate the life of Brahms, his close relationship with the Schumanns, and the bicentennial of Clara Schumann’s birth.

Participate

The Germantown Oratorio Choir welcomes singers in all sections (college-adult) for this community-wide spring concert. There is no audition required, but the ability to read music, the talent to sing in tune and in time, and the commitment to be faithful to the rehearsal schedule are expected.

Oratorio Choir Rehearsal Schedule
Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00 p.m. | Jan. 8-March 12

Oratorio Choir Dress Rehearsal
Saturday, March 16, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Brahms Festival Concert
Sunday, March 17, at 4 p.m. (3 p.m. call for the choir)

We are seeking to raise $10,000 to offset the costs of this community outreach concert, which will feature professional soloists and instrumentalists. Please consider demonstrating your support in one of the categories listed below.

Sponsorship Gifts
$5,000 underwrites professional core singers.
$2,500 underwrites professional piano accompaniment.
$1,000 underwrites professional Internet livestream.

Leadership Gifts
$750 will provide radio and print advertisements.
$500 will provide a soloist or choral section leader.
$250 will provide a scholarship for one college choral scholar.

Friends of Music Gifts at the $100, $50, and $25 levels.

Attend

The concert begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. It is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be collected. Those unable to attend in person can participate from a distance via Internet livestream.

Transportation

Click here for map and directions. The First Presbyterian Church in Germantown is easily reached by SEPTA bus and regional rail service (Chestnut Hill East: Germantown Station; Chestnut Hill West: Chelten Ave. Station). Free parking is available on each side of the church building complex, on the street, and at the Germantown Life Enrichment Center one block away. The church building is ADA accessible.
