On April 29, 2018, The Reverend Rebecca Segers was installed as Pastor behalf of the First Presbyterian Church in Germantown.
The installation was a joint service of the Presbytery of Philadelphia and the Congregation of the First Presbyterian Church in Germantown.

We were extremely honored to have the The Reverend Dr. James Forbes, Senior Minister Emeritus of the Riverside Church in New York City, preaching the sermon for this service.

The service included joyous music sung by the FPCG Chancel Choir and Gospel Choir, the Keystone State Boychoir and the Pennsylvania Girlchoir, and worship through liturgical dance.
A reception followed the worship service.

The Germantown Oratorio Choir & Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. F. Anthony Thurman, will present a concert of excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, an oratorio in three parts, on Sunday, December 3, at 4 p.m. The concert will feature award winning soloists Evelyn Santiago, soprano; Margaret Mezzacappa, mezzo soprano; David Kellett, tenor; and Robert Phillips, baritone. The concert is open to the public. A free-will offering is requested.

This fall the Woodmere Art Museum will present a large-scale exhibition of the work of Violet Oakley (1874-1961), the first in more three decades. The exhibition will focus on the artist’s public commissions, which are rarely seen because of their fixed locations in civic buildings, churches, schools, and private residences. Studies for commissions that span Oakley’s fifty-year career will include her work at the Pennsylvania State Capitol and the Great Women of the Bible series here at First Church. Join art historians and guests from Woodmere on Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 2-4 p.m. in the Jennings Room. The exhibition runs September 30, 2017-January 21, 2018. The Germantown Oratorio Choir will perform Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, December 3, at 4 p.m. Rehearsals are on Tuesday nights from 7:30-9 p.m. in the church Sanctuary, beginning Oct. 31. Members and friends of First Church, neighboring choirs, and musicians from the greater Germantown community are invited to participate. There is no audition required, but the ability to read music, the talent to sing in tune and in time, and the commitment to be faithful to the rehearsal schedule are expected. Please join us on Sunday, October 1 at 4 p.m. for a Song Recital to inaugurate the Barbara Russell Memorial Piano in the Jennings Room. Evelyn Santiago, soprano; Margaret Mezzacappa, mezzo soprano; and Ted W. Barr, piano, will present a program of sacred songs, opera, and musical theater. The performance is free and open to the public. A free-will offering is requested.
The annual First Presbyterian Church in Germantown picnic/barbecue sponsored by the Congregational Development and Fellowship Committee (CDFC) will take place, rain or shine, after worship on Sunday, September 24. Members and friends of First Church are invited to contribute a side dish, salad or another choice, fruit, and/or dessert item, ready for serving for this event. The Christian Education Committee will again provide the fun activities. Please see Delores Solomon, Chair of CDFC, or any member of the committee to volunteer. Especially needed are volunteers to grill hot dogs (beef) and burgers (beef, turkey and vegan).
