Are YOU ready?
The Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School, now in its third year here at FPCG, provides an exciting academic and cultural enrichment program for fifty children from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The program is led by Eileen Jones and Contina Lundy and six “servant leader intern. The young “scholars” will enjoy a program that is anchored by an emphasis on reading taught through the CDF’s Integrated Reading Curriculum which encourages the students to interact with outstanding children’s literature.
In addition, the children also enjoy games, singing, weekly swimming trips, field trips, as well as Bible study and Christ-centered activities. They are also taught the value of community involvement and ways that each person can make a difference. The program also involves parents as volunteers and in weekly parent workshops.
This outstanding program relies on our financial support and volunteers! Please give generously to our May Challenge Offering and consider other ways you might be able to help as well.
Volunteers are needed to monitor lunch, provide transportation, read aloud to the whole group in the mornings, help prepare and serve meals, help with field trips, and to sort and organize books and materials.
If you would like to volunteer for even an hour or two a week, contact Eileen Jones at or 215-843-8811 or Contina Lundy at or 215-512-8824.
