In common with all people we share a longing for something that will make our lives complete and whole. Religious, cultural and intellectual pursuits are among the ways in which we search for this wholeness which is only made complete through an experience of God. Worship, prayer, and Bible study are central activities of the Christian life that puts us in touch with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit. Through our worship and prayer we honor God and find spiritual nurture. As we listen to God's Word we hear the call to pilgrimage which is a journey into Christ and the God-centered life. Christian life is characterized by a joyful celebration of God's gifts, both physical and spiritual, and by a dedication to the pursuit of God's love, justice and peace. We are willing to face challenge and conflict as we strive for the well being of all people, especially those who are vulnerable. We believe that all people are made in God's image to be part of God's family and that honor and respect are due to all. We will not reject or demean anyone on the basis of age, race, sexual orientation, gender, economic status or any physical characteristic. We seek to help people realize their full potential as children of God, and to encourage the development and stewardship of their gifts in service to others and the worship of God. We invite people to an honest, open discussion of all points of view in a search for an authentic moral life. We recognize and accept our special responsibility to build a racially integrated congregation. We believe that we are called to live together in communion with one another, and to embrace the future with hope.
