This month, both Middle and High School Youth groups will devote their time to understanding and responding to issues of hunger in our community and our world.
We will learn about the Biblical call to respond to those in need and we will take action throughout our youth groups to help. All youth in middle school and high school are invited to join us for the following events:
Middle School Youth Group - Tuesday November 17th
Come join us as we continue with our service-learning project for the Christmas season and prepare Thanksgiving baskets for our Crisis Ministry. We will meet at 6:30pm-8:30pm, with a meal included for $2.00.
Senior High Youth Group - Thursday November 19th
Empty Bowl Dinner: We will travel to Chestnut Hill College to participate in IHN’s Empty Bowl Fundraiser. We will leave the church at 6:00pm and return back at 8:45pm. Youth are asked to bring $5.00 for the meal which will help to raise funds for this important ministry.

We thank God for a wonderful turn out for our Sunday School Kick-off Party after worship on September 20th.
There were more than fifty people in attendance, many of whom were young people with their families as well as teachers and other members who were just interested in what we are planning this year.
Those in attendance had the opportunity to learn more about what we offer young people through Sunday School, who is teaching our children, and what curriculum we are using.
With our largest volunteer staff of teachers in at least five years, this year should prove to be a year for deeper connections between our teachers and students, as well as more hands and energy devoted to nurturing the faith of our young people through this ministry!
Many thanks to Stephanie Haynes for all her hard work and her outstanding leadership in our teacher training on September 19th. Special thanks to Deborah Thompson for getting the breakfast organized.
Please pray that our students and teachers as they study the Scriptures that their faith, hope and love for Jesus Christ and others may grow together!

Labor Day weekend is the official start of the new school year… and the program year at FPCG. You won’t want to miss these kick-off events:
Bread & Cup Reunion Celebration - Sunday, September 6th
On Sunday, September 6 at 7:00 PM in Longstreth, Bread and Cup will launch its seventh full season with a special “reunion celebration” featuring as many of the headliners as possible from the past six years. Poets Sharone Gaither and RuNett Nia Ebo Gray developed the concept of the reunion as a way to give thanks for the Coffeehouse’s hospitality and nurture of the Germantown community through the arts. Each performer will perform one poem or song each, making this an evening of the “Best of Bread and Cup.” Whether you are a regular attendee or have never been before, please come celebrate the special sense of community that Bread and Cup has built over the years. We also welcome any refreshments you can donate.
Germantown High School - Prayer Gathering Tuesday, September 8
Join Christian Heyer Rivera, Reverend Kevin Porter and members and clergy from other Germantown congregations as they gather on the lawn of Germantown High School (Germantown Ave. and High Streets) at 7:30 AM on Tuesday, September 8 to usher in the new school year in prayer. For several years, the opening day prayer presence organized by the Germantown Clergy Initiative (GCI) has been a way for churches of all denominations in Germantown to show their care and concern for the students, faculty, and families of Germantown High School. GCI has volunteer opportunities ranging from being a mentor to administration for anyone who would like to partner with them as they support the high school in bringing quality public education back to our neighborhood. Contact or if you would like more information.
