Volunteer Opportunities in February
The Creative Germantown Initiative (CGI) is the umbrella organization that reaches beyond the congregation and focuses on The Arts, Education, and Recreation. The Concert Series, Bread & Cup Coffee House, Drop-In Center, Germantown Xclusive Drill Team, youth basketball teams, Freedom School, and the PUMI Experience are all components of CGI.
CGI is seeking volunteers to utilize their gifts to:
+ update their website on a continuous basis
+ write press releases that publicize goings on of those components listed above.
The Congregational Development and Fellowship Committee is in need of folks to:
+ Pour coffee & cleanup during Coffee Hour on the fourth Sunday, Feb. 27th
+ Iron tablecloths
Thank you for considering this month’s volunteer opportunities.
Please continue to look for ways God is calling you to utilize your gifts and talents for the many worthwhile ventures of FPCG.

Support Creative Germantown Initiative
Our new church non-profit, Creative Germantown Initiative (CGI), is home to many programs like our concert series, Bread and Cup coffee house, the basketball and drill teams and more.
Here is a creative way to lend your support: Creative Germantown Initiative (CGI) has an affinity credit card with Capital One Visa. The card even has a picture of various CGI programs on it. When you apply and are accepted as a card member, CGI automatically receives $50. Then when you use the card, CGI receives 2% of every grocery or gas purchase, 1% of all other purchases and up to 10% of purchases at selected merchants. CGI receives quarterly checks from Capital One. To learn more and to apply go to Capital One’s unique CGI webpage to apply.

What a winter we have had! And it is not over yet; it looks like more difficult weather is headed our way this week.
Sometimes it is necessary to cancel our worship service. Such a decision is made at the last minute and in case of such an emergency, we will have the cancellation announced on KYW Radio (1060 AM) and local television stations.
During the week if the Philadelphia Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather the church will also be closed.
Always use your best judgment about venturing out in bad weather.

This year, the December Bread and Cup will be combined with the Christian Education Committee’s Christmas Festival for all ages.
On December 19 at 3:00, FPCG members and friends will celebrate the Christmas season with our neighbors of all ages. The Congregational Development Committee will provide snacks, hot soup and bread and you are invited to bring a dessert to share.
The activities will include a Christmas pageant (designed to include any and all youth who attend), gingerbread house construction and other crafts, a live nativity in our parking lot, a Christmas carol sing, special entertainment from choir soloist Jessie Padgett and several FPCG members, and an open microphone portion for your talent.
This will be a wonderful event to bring friends and family. Admission is free, with donations gratefully received. Talk to Christian Heyer-Rivera for more information.

Thank You!! Your generous response to our Thanksgiving food drive was overwhelming! Read more about it here...

This is the time of year when we all look forward to the holidays. With just a few days break after our Thanksgiving drive, we are looking ahead to the Christmas food drive. We need your help!
Donations of both food and time are vital to this outreach mission. Food donations are needed for holiday baskets and to replenish the food cupboard.
Please call the Germantown Avenue Crisis Ministry office (215-843-2340) or talk to Eileen Jones to learn how you can help.
