Join us for our 3rd Annual MLK Day of Service this Monday!
The Day begins with 9:00 am-Worship, followed by service projects at 9:30am.

There are a number of opportunities this week for you to give praise to God as well. Join us at First Pres as we celebrate the birth of Jesus!
Christmas Eve Midnight Service of Lessons and Carols. Prelude music begins at 10:30pm with worship beginning at 11:00pm. This beautiful service is not to be missed!
Christmas morning worship begins at 10:00am. We invite you to join our First Pres family for Sunday worship on Christmas morning...what a great way to celebrate Christ’s birthday!
Worship Service Canceled due to Hurricane Irene
Due to the predicted high winds and probable flooding of Hurricane Irene tonight and tomorrow morning, tomorrow’s Sunday morning worship service is canceled.
As SEPTA has already determined, it will be unsafe to be on the roadways during this storm. There is no need to put any of our church members and friends in harms way.
Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, until the destroying storms pass by. Psalm 57:1

We were blessed on Sunday to be led in worship by FPCG’s newest choir!
This diverse ensemble not only reflects our cultural and age diversity, but is helping our congregation experience diverse ways of worshiping the Lord. Keeping Christ at the center, this new group is committed to exploring new and fresh ways of leading us into God’s presence.
Gospel music is written to express a personal, spiritual, or communal belief regarding Christian life. The themes of Gospel music center around praise, worship, and giving thanks to God, Christ, and the Holly Spirit.

The three pastors who participated in the Sunday worship service on June 12 had all been members of the Junior High fellowship of First Presbyterian in the late 1950s when they were shepherded by Bill and Bea Gardner. Later in the day, the Revs. Dr. Cherry Marshall, John D. Dennis and Donna Kay Hitner and spouses joined George Wallace and his wife, Leslie Twyford Thomas, Bob Schrey, the Rev. Modi and Gloria Essoka, Lee Davidson Heisey and others for a dinner at the Lower Gwynedd home of Peter and Deborah Watson, the brother and sister-in-law of Sherry Marshall. These alums came from Baltimore; Corvallis, Oregon; Chicago; West Orange, New Jersey; Winter Park, Florida; Lancaster and Saylorsville, Pennsylvania.
The woman of the day, of course, was Bea Gardner who, along with the others, reminisced all afternoon about the years when the Junior High youth group was the shining star in First Church‘s crown of organizations. Bea reminded everyone that it was Sherry who approached the Gardners and asked them to sponsor the young people even though Bea and Bill had not had any experience. So they simply used the pattern that was working for the young adults in the church.
