The First Presbyterian Church in Germantown was asked to participate in a national congregational study last fall.
We all know that FPCG is a vibrant, active church that values diversity and an active expression of our faith in Jesus Christ.
But here are some interesting facts that came out of the survey:
* 41% of survey participants regularly take part in community service, social justice, or advocacy activities of our church. 26% take part in FPCG evangelism and outreach activities.
* 64% stated that worship services or activities of this congregation helped to a great extent with everyday living
* 93% of participants believe that FPCG church leaders encouraged them to find and use their gifts and skills at the church
The complete results for our congregation can be found by clicking here. We will soon be receiving an analysis of how our congregation compares to others in the country.

Do you want to make a difference in our nation’s capital? You can!
On Tuesday, March 10th, ten members from seven Presbyterian churches in our Philadelphia Presbytery traveled to Washington, D.C. to be briefed by the Presbytery Washington Office on what’s happening in Congress.
In addition to meeting with and raising issues with the staff of our Pennsylvania senators, this group learned from the Presbytery that the key players dealing with healthcare are Senator Waxman and Bokus and Dodd, representing Senator Kennedy.
Other budget considerations were discussed in the Presbytery briefing, including:
- the environment (cap on carbon emission and the use of ethanol)
- access to and improvement in nutrition in schools
- after school programs, and education

Sharone Gaither, a longtime friend of Bread and Cup, will host this month’s presentation of Lawrence Lockett and Friends on Sunday, February 8 at 7:00pm.
Mr. Lockett is a recent graduate of Drexel University who has been producing a coffee house format similar to Bread and Cup on Drexel’s campus, highlighting the talents of students and others. He’ll be bringing some of those performers with him to Bread and Cup.
Ms. Gaither is a poet and performer in her own right, as well as a woman committed to the community. She is on the board of the Whosoever Gospel Mission, and was one of several Bread and Cup performers who spearheaded a fundraiser for the Mission after their 2006 fire. Read More
