Community Forum
6:30pm in the Primary Room
WHYY and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health invite you to a forum on what the city should do about tobacco.
Hear the facts about tobacco use in the city and the policy options. Then join other citizens to decide which options you can support. Participants will split into small groups with a facilitator - your voice will be heard and your opinions considered. These forums, facilitated by the Penn Project for Civic Engagement, will be presented throughout the city and covered by WHYY-FM and WHYY‘s NewsWorks.org
Download a flyer about the forum here.
Your input is vital...laws and policies regarding tobacco use will affect all of us – do not miss this opportunity to have your voice heard.

Sharone Gaither Performs Sunday at 7pm
Few performers embody the spirit of the Bread and Cup Coffeehouse as much as Sharone Gaither, the October 2 headliner for our 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. celebration of the arts and agape feast.
Ms. Gaither is a long-time resident of Germantown who discovered her gifts as a poet when she was struggling to come to terms with personal tragedy. Thankfully, she recognized that the poetry which was so healing for her was also a source of inspiration to people of all ages from all walks of life.
She credits Bread and Cup as one of the first venues to welcome her artistic talents, and in return, she has been an enthusiastic supporter of our coffeehouse and a board member of Creative Germantown Initiative (CGI) on Bread and Cup‘s behalf.

Be A Part of the Solution
Are you looking for ways to get involved in making Germantown an even better place to live and/or work? Whatever your interests or gifts, FPCG can most likely help you connect with community organizations that can make use of them!
In recent months Germantown Community Connection (GCC) has been in the news as the organization engaged in conversation with the developer of the Chelten Plaza on the former Fresh Grocer site in order to bring about positive design changes and commitments to the community. However, GCC’s mission extends well beyond this project:
GCC was instrumental in garnering the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s designation of Germantown as a “Classic Town.” As such, Germantown’s profile has become heightened for development, tourism, and other economic investment.
GCC’s Artists’ Roundtable has caught the attention of several city agencies including the Planning Commission and the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy—both of which have recognized this grass-roots organization of artists as a vital resource in improving the quality of life in Germantown.

We were blessed on Sunday to be led in worship by FPCG’s newest choir!
This diverse ensemble not only reflects our cultural and age diversity, but is helping our congregation experience diverse ways of worshiping the Lord. Keeping Christ at the center, this new group is committed to exploring new and fresh ways of leading us into God’s presence.
Gospel music is written to express a personal, spiritual, or communal belief regarding Christian life. The themes of Gospel music center around praise, worship, and giving thanks to God, Christ, and the Holly Spirit.
Interested? If you love to worship and are able to rehearse on Sunday’s after church, we would love to have you join us! Please contact Donna Payne (215-450-7963) or Joanne Elliott (215-725-0420) for more information.
