Join Us on Sunday, January 8th
The Bread and Cup Coffeehouse kicks off 2012 on Sunday, January 8 with a karaoke night from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in Longstreth Auditorium.
You are invited to take your turn at the microphone in front of the friendliest audience in town either to sing a song (accompanied by professional studio arrangements) or to offer a poem, joke, or short story during our time of open microphone. Or, if you prefer, just come to cheer on the others and be surprised at the depth of singing talent we have in our congregation and community.

Getting your finances in order before the year-end
By Jim Thompson
This is the last month of 2011, and there are several things you should consider before the year ends:
+ Pay your pledge in full for 2011 this month. This benefits both our church and the you – especially if you itemize deductions for your federal income tax.
+ Pay some of your 2012 pledge this year. Once again this benefits you if you itemize deductions on your federal income tax. The church will ensure that your payment is credited toward your 2012 pledge.
+ If you had a windfall this year and would like to contribute part of it to our church, pick any effort that you would like to support- for example the Third Century Fund, The General Purpose Endowment Fund (also known as A Piece of the Rock), or any other program of the church.
+ Lastly, as of now, the IRA direct transfer option will end in 2011.

The Germantown Community Connection (GCC)’s second Artists’ Roundtable will be held at FPCG this Thursday at 7:00pm. This is an opportunity for all artists who live and/or work in Germantown to network with one another and learn how they can be active participants in improving the quality of life of our community.
Matt Wysong, the Planning Commission’s official representative for the northwest, will be in attendance to share his vision of how artists of all types can be integral in the city’s plan for the neighborhood. The Artists’ Roundtable was conceived by our own Reverend Kevin Porter in conjunction with Dr. Vivia Nix-Early of the arts organization Build-A-Bridge as part of GCC’s “Classic Towns” Initiative.

FPCG is the latest community partner in the development of Vernon Park’s new rain garden initiative!
Led by the Tookany-Tacony Frankford Watershed Partnership, a consortium of community groups and institutions have joined together to design and implement a rain garden in front of Vernon Park’s Center in the Park. The water garden will do more than beautify the area, it will also demonstrate Philadelphia’s burgeoning campaign to capture rain water more efficiently and environmentally friendly than any other city of its size!
