Electronic Pledge Payment
Many things have changed in our world and that includes methods to deliver your offerings to our church. Traditionally cash and checks are given each Sunday when the offering plate is passed, however, there are viable alternatives.
Many of our members have chosen the direct deposit method – in this method you authorize the church to have your offering, in whatever periodic method you choose, to be directly transferred from your bank account to the church. You will see this on your bank statement as well as your giving statement provided by our church. This method does require you to establish “continuing” or regular dates for your contributions but this can be modified, if needed, by your request.

The three pastors who participated in the Sunday worship service on June 12 had all been members of the Junior High fellowship of First Presbyterian in the late 1950s when they were shepherded by Bill and Bea Gardner. Later in the day, the Revs. Dr. Cherry Marshall, John D. Dennis and Donna Kay Hitner and spouses joined George Wallace and his wife, Leslie Twyford Thomas, Bob Schrey, the Rev. Modi and Gloria Essoka, Lee Davidson Heisey and others for a dinner at the Lower Gwynedd home of Peter and Deborah Watson, the brother and sister-in-law of Sherry Marshall. These alums came from Baltimore; Corvallis, Oregon; Chicago; West Orange, New Jersey; Winter Park, Florida; Lancaster and Saylorsville, Pennsylvania.
The woman of the day, of course, was Bea Gardner who, along with the others, reminisced all afternoon about the years when the Junior High youth group was the shining star in First Church‘s crown of organizations. Bea reminded everyone that it was Sherry who approached the Gardners and asked them to sponsor the young people even though Bea and Bill had not had any experience. So they simply used the pattern that was working for the young adults in the church.

Plans are underway to develop a three-on-three summer league as well as a five-on-five scrimmages with local teams. We are also excited to have Wendy Harris, wife of FPCG member Brian Harris, come on board to coach a girls team this summer! Wendy played basketball in college and is looking forward to sharing her experience and love of the game.
Recap of the Winter/Spring Season: The under-18 boys basket-ball team had a unique winter-spring season. The team struggled with consistency through-out the regular season. Losses came more readily than wins during regular league play, but toward the end of the season the team made a dramatic turn around. The team developed a spirit of unity that gave them momentum coming into the playoffs.

We need YOU at McMichael Park Flea Market this Saturday, June 19
Come volunteer at the FPCG table this Saturday where we will hand out flyers and information about First Pres.
We need more folks to hand out those wonderful green balloons with our logo on them. We need even more folks to just “hang out,” showing the diversity of our congregation. Under a shaded canopy or walking among the crowds, you can answer questions about First Presbyterian and our outreach and mission.
If you can help, please come to the park and find us. We are on McMichael Street and our location has been designated as “COM3." For more information or to volunteer, please contact Faith Wolford or Sam Whyte.

On Sunday, June 5th, a group of young families from FPCG came together to clean up the playground area at Vernon Park. Both kids and adults join in to give the playground some much needed attention. A pot-luck picnic followed. Click here to see more photos.
