Pentecost Adult Christian Education Program
Fifty days after Easter on Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended upon Christ’s followers and the Church was born as they spread the gospel.
In celebration here at FPCG, on Pentecost Sunday, May 23rd at 11:30am, the Serendipity Bible Study is hosting a forum for FPCG members to share how God is using their gifts for ministry in their vocations and service beyond the congregation.
The Serendipity members will be providing refreshments, so plan to have your second cup of coffee after coffee hour with us in the Jennings Room.
**Please note the Nehemiah Bible lesson for the week will be at 8:45 AM that morning.

This Sunday (May 16th) following worship, a reception will be held for Dr. Muth as she prepares to go on her sabbatical.
Nancy has been ministering among us for almost eight years and she is now looking forward to time to reflect on the past, increase her spiritual growth and refocus her ministry. Nancy will be away for the months of June, July and August and the time at this reception will give us an opportunity to show our appreciation for her ministry and to wish her well as she leaves on sabbatical.
A gift from the congregation will be given to Nancy during the reception. Contributions toward the gift should be marked for the Sabbatical Gift and may be mailed to the church office, placed in the offering plate or given to Bill Young.
Important Note: The Financial Seminar will be held after the reception at 11:45am in the Finney Room. Click here for more information.

Have you ever wondered how the church manages its finances? Would you like more information about our church budget or our use of the endowment?
Quarterly seminars regarding our church finances are now being held for any one interested.
Following the first informational seminar on church finances on February 21st, Jim Thompson, the workshop leader, received the following from member Sherry Archer: “Thank you for the informative, well organized presentation. This must have taken quite a bit of time to prepare and Bob and I thought it was great and more importantly, very useful. The only regret I have is how few people were present! I really don’t know what to do to get people’s attention.”
If you are still reading, we have your attention!
We invite you to attend our next quarterly seminar next Sunday, May 16th at 11:45am, right after coffee hour. Stop by and wish Rev. Nancy well at the pre-sabbatical reception in Longstreth, then grab your coffee and meet us in the Finney Room.
We hope to see you there!
Please contact for more info.

Thanks to the generosity and hard work of churches from across the Presbytery of Philadelphia we were able to deliver over 1,000 hygiene kits and a couple of boxes of baby kits to the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor, MD. These kits are now on their way to Haiti.
Many congregations have shipped kits to either New Windsor or to the PDA (Presbyterian Disaster Assistance) depot in Arkansas in response to the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile. Others took advantage of a combined delivery opportunity by bringing their boxes, bags, and stacks of kits to the Presbytery meeting in March.
Thanks First Pres for being a part of this important ministry. Thanks to your generosity we were able to donate four cartons of kits.

If you missed the April Bread and Cup, you missed a lot!
It was our second Karaoke Night with Irene Overton’s daughter Lydia as our disc jockey. Four year old Josh Overton charmed the crowd with his rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean Jade Bass, Marlene Young, and Gloria Patterson formed their own “girl group” to sing 60’s Motown hits, with sexton Harry Watkins joining them singing Marvin Gaye’s vocals.
Gloria also won our first ever culinary contest when the audience voted her pound cake most worthy of the $25 gift certificate to the Flower Café. Our thanks go to Bea Gardner, Susan Mills Farrington, and Richard Brooks for their delicious entries.
Don’t miss this Sunday’s Bread and Cup featuring Paulette Lawson as our headliner. Open mic starts at 7:00pm.
This is Ms. Lawson’s first time at our multicultural inter-generational celebration of the arts. She is a vocalist whose repertoire consists of contemporary Christian standards.
