Electronic Pledge Payment
Many things have changed in our world and that includes methods to deliver your offerings to our church. Traditionally cash and checks are given each Sunday when the offering plate is passed, however, there are viable alternatives.
Many of our members have chosen the direct deposit method – in this method you authorize the church to have your offering, in whatever periodic method you choose, to be directly transferred from your bank account to the church. You will see this on your bank statement as well as your giving statement provided by our church. This method does require you to establish “continuing” or regular dates for your contributions but this can be modified, if needed, by your request.

Volunteers from several organizations did clean up work in the bucolic and long troubled Vernon Park on Wednesday. The park has been cleaned before, but some see the recent efforts as something significantly different.
“We’re a coalition of different groups,” said Sue Finch as she worked mulch around some plants. “The Friends of Vernon Park and the rest are people called stakeholders, people in lots of different organizations.”

The three pastors who participated in the Sunday worship service on June 12 had all been members of the Junior High fellowship of First Presbyterian in the late 1950s when they were shepherded by Bill and Bea Gardner. Later in the day, the Revs. Dr. Cherry Marshall, John D. Dennis and Donna Kay Hitner and spouses joined George Wallace and his wife, Leslie Twyford Thomas, Bob Schrey, the Rev. Modi and Gloria Essoka, Lee Davidson Heisey and others for a dinner at the Lower Gwynedd home of Peter and Deborah Watson, the brother and sister-in-law of Sherry Marshall. These alums came from Baltimore; Corvallis, Oregon; Chicago; West Orange, New Jersey; Winter Park, Florida; Lancaster and Saylorsville, Pennsylvania.
The woman of the day, of course, was Bea Gardner who, along with the others, reminisced all afternoon about the years when the Junior High youth group was the shining star in First Church‘s crown of organizations. Bea reminded everyone that it was Sherry who approached the Gardners and asked them to sponsor the young people even though Bea and Bill had not had any experience. So they simply used the pattern that was working for the young adults in the church.

Summer Choir begins June 5th… and we need you!
During the summer months the professional section leaders will be off and the Chancel Choir will be an all volunteer choir.
Rehearsals will be held Sunday mornings beginning at 8:30am and ending around 9:30am.
If you can’t make a commitment for the entire summer, come when you can. We will be singing music that is a bit easier than our usual fare with the hope of engaging more volunteers from the congregation.
Give David Daugherty a call at 215-843-8811, ext 21 for more information.
