Youth News
Young people are the future of our church! We are happy to report there is a lot of life-changing ministry happening with our youngest members.
We invite you to be a part of helping a youth grow up in the Lord, talk to Christian Heyer-Rivera to get involved!
Youth Group
In the coming weeks, our Senior High Youth Group will be exploring the call to service as a disciple of Christ. Scripture and discussions will emphasize the blessing and importance of service as a response of gratitude to God and out of concern for others! Our middle school youth will spend the next few weeks discovering the classic disciplines in Christian tradition and practicing them together.
Nursery
Our church’s nursery is growing! We have new children join us every week and we have witnessed all of them grow and learn to care and love each other.
We have also started practicing songs and singing them during worship every other Celebration Sunday. The kids are doing a wonderful job leading us in worship! We are in great need for volunteers to help with this growing group of our church’s youngest members. If you are interested in working with us, please contact Sheila Heyer-Rivera.
Basketball
We continue to support two different teams of young men.
One is composed of young men over 18 years of age "The Rebels", the other is our under 18 year old men "The Disciples". Our over 18 team is presently at the tail end of a league that plays in Northeast Philadelphia. This season has been very successful in terms of wins, but more importantly we are seeing players from our under 18 team make the transition to this older squad.
Our under 18 team is currently playing at Germantown Friends School's smaller gym. The team is playing against teams of churches throughout the area and continues to build a sense of community among themselves and their opponents.
Please continue to pray for these relationship building teams and their leadership. Special thanks to Randy Kirby, Melvin Brown and Valient Solomon(both now attending college) and Chris Scott for their commitment to coach and love our young men!
