Sunday School Update
Sunday morning is an important day for our youngest members at FPCG. We invite you to come up and see for yourself the wonderful ministry that is happening upstairs. In the meantime, check out our Sunday School photo gallery to see photos of our kids and volunteers in cation.
Nursery Our children in the nursery have been a consistent and active group of learners. Song, crafts, and faith sharing lessons have filled the room. A special thank you to all the parents who continue to serve as teachers to the youngest members of our church family and Sheila Heyer-Rivera for coordinating the calendar for teachers there!
Elementary This year has seen an ever-increasing number of children make their way week after week to the classroom. The energy and faith of the children have served to simultaneously test the limits of patience and
provide much encouragement to teachers Deborah Thompson and Sheila Heyer-Rivera.
Middle School During the month of February, the middle school Sunday school class celebrated Black History month by viewing several videos about significant achievements of African Americans of faith. Stephanie Haynes also took the class out to the local Wendy’s as a way of say ing goodbye to Cameron Jenkins, who moved to Georgia with his family in the middle of February.
High School The month began with Ted Walkenhorst having the students listen to sermons preached by young people their own age. The sermons proved to create lively discussion among the group and were a great resource. In the middle of the month Chris Scott led the class as it turned its attention to the “Eyes on the Prize” documentary series about the history of the civil rights movement for African Americans. The series is an invaluable tool for learning for adults as well. See Christian Heyer-Rivera or Rev. Kevin Porter to find out more information concerning the video.
