November Youth Events
This month, both Middle and High School Youth groups will devote their time to understanding and responding to issues of hunger in our community and our world.
We will learn about the Biblical call to respond to those in need and we will take action throughout our youth groups to help. All youth in middle school and high school are invited to join us for the following events:
Middle School Youth Group - Tuesday November 17th
Come join us as we continue with our service-learning project for the Christmas season and prepare Thanksgiving baskets for our Crisis Ministry. We will meet at 6:30pm-8:30pm, with a meal included for $2.00.
Senior High Youth Group - Thursday November 19th
Empty Bowl Dinner: We will travel to Chestnut Hill College to participate in IHN’s Empty Bowl Fundraiser. We will leave the church at 6:00pm and return back at 8:45pm. Youth are asked to bring $5.00 for the meal which will help to raise funds for this important ministry.
Open Gym time for Youth in Germantown every Saturday!!
From 9:00am to 11:50am every Saturday our gym is open for our young members and their friends to enjoy basketball, air hockey, darts, foosball, ping pong, and for senior high students: a weight room for working out. We are looking for a few more adult volunteers willing to share one Saturday morning with young people to ensure the success of this new opportunity.
New Senior High Drop-In Center "The Basement" Opens this month!
The First Presbyterian Church in Germantown, in partnership with Brotherly Love Urban Youth Services, Inc., will open a senior high drop-in center here at The First Presbyterian Church in Germantown. The center will open every Friday after the school day from 3:00-6:00pm.
The center, named "The Basement", will provide a safe place for youth to gather, play, socialize, and participate in empowering activities that promote community involvement, academic success, life skills, and short and long term goal setting and achievement. Please begin praying now for the success of this new bold effort to bless the young people of our community.
If you are interested in volunteering your time, or a particular skill to the drop-in center please contact Christian Heyer-Rivera at 267.972.5662
