Bread & Cup This Sunday
Sharone Gaither Performs Sunday at 7pm
Few performers embody the spirit of the Bread and Cup Coffeehouse as much as Sharone Gaither, the October 2 headliner for our 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. celebration of the arts and agape feast.
Ms. Gaither is a long-time resident of Germantown who discovered her gifts as a poet when she was struggling to come to terms with personal tragedy. Thankfully, she recognized that the poetry which was so healing for her was also a source of inspiration to people of all ages from all walks of life.
She credits Bread and Cup as one of the first venues to welcome her artistic talents, and in return, she has been an enthusiastic supporter of our coffeehouse and a board member of Creative Germantown Initiative (CGI) on Bread and Cup‘s behalf.
CGI is the non-profit organization now responsible for overseeing and implementing Bread and Cup as well as the other arts, education, and recreation programs FPCG has developed to improve the quality of life in Germantown for all ages. Ms. Gaither has also given back to the community through mentoring youth in the healing power of the arts, and she plans to showcase some of her protégés as part of her Bread and Cup program.
This month, we also say thank you to our long-term kitchen matron Cynthia Thomas as she prepares to return home to Jamaica for the cold-weather months.
You are invited to contribute salads, side dishes, and/or desserts to complement the shrimp and chicken creole Rev. Porter will be making in celebration of Cynthia. We will also have our open microphone for your performing arts offering to what promises to be a very special evening.
