Abundant Generosity
Thank You!! Your generous response to our Thanksgiving food drive was overwhelming! Read more about it here...
This is the time of year when we all look forward to the holidays. With just a few days break after our Thanksgiving drive, we are looking ahead to the Christmas food drive. We need your help!
Donations of both food and time are vital to this outreach mission. Food donations are needed for holiday baskets and to replenish the food cupboard.
Please call the Germantown Avenue Crisis Ministry office (215-843-2340) or talk to Eileen Jones to learn how you can help.
179 Turkeys
Volunteering to help prepare Thanksgiving baskets for those in need in the community, long-time member Pam Ball, never expected to be overwhelmed the week before Thanksgiving. As they were sorting food donations in the Finney Room, they were alerted to the arrival of another food delivery. As Pam tells it, the church van, the seats and aisle overflowing, was filled with plastic bags of food. Behind the van a car and a small trailer were brimming with turkeys - more that 179 of them!
The gift was from students at Chestnut Hill Academy. The school is celebrating its 150 anniversary and the students wanted to do something special, so their goal was 150 turkeys. They surpassed that mark by 29 turkeys. As a result of their extraordinary generosity and caring, many more families in Germantown had a bountiful Thanksgiving.
