Drivers Needed on Sunday Morning!
Did you know that each Sunday several members and friends of First Church are transported to and from church via the church van?
At this time we need two drivers, one to drive the first Sunday of month and one for the occasional fifth Sunday.
A regular driver’s license is all that is needed. Christian Heyer-Rivera provides the training needed to drive the van. If interested in serving the church in this very simple (yet extremely important) capacity, please contact Rosy Walkenhorst at 267-808-2865.

Mother’s Day Reflection by Rev. Nancy
This Mother’s Day take a moment to think of all the mothers in the world who are in need. There are millions of women in the world living on less than a dollar a day. There are women in this country who are wondering how they are going to feed or diaper their children from day to day. There are children who need medical attention that their parents may not be able to afford.
Anyone who has ever had to worry about such things can deeply sympathize. For those of us who have escaped such worries, we can only imagine the stress that such uncertainties can cause.
This Mother’s Day think of all of these women, and also think of your own mother, grandmother, or aunt. How might you honor her this Mother’s Day?

Be a Part of the Solution in Philly
It seems like each day’s news brings another account of how gun violence continues to plague our city. Thankfully, FPCG is actively engaged in Neighborhood Partners to End Gun Violence (NPEG), an interfaith organization of congregations in northwest Philadelphia.
For months, NPEG has sponsored a demonstration in front of Delia’s Gun Shop on Torresdale Ave to encourage the owner of the shop to adopt a “Code of Conduct” which would reduce the practice of “straw purchases” (i.e. when someone who can legally purchase a gun resells it to those who cannot legally purchase firearms).
For more information on this important way to put our faith into action and to join, contact Rev. Porter and FPCG member Bob Swenson. Join us in the demonstration on Tuesdays (April 17 and May 1). We meet at FPCG at 3:00 and return by 5:00pm.
