Reverend Nancy is such a cheerleader of the ministries and mission of the First Presbyterian Church in Germantown (FPCG) that we‘re used to seeing our monthly newsletter filled with a treasure trove of upcoming opportunities for us to participate in FPCG programs. These opportunities are wonderful ways to grow in our Christian faith and to put that faith into actions consistent with Christ‘s Great Commission that we go and make disciples in His name. On Sundays, you will usually find Pernell and Myrtle Jackson sitting in the fourth pew on the west side of the sanctuary. You’ll recognize Pernell Jackson by the twinkle in his eye and his quick wit that keeps you guessing and Myrtle Jackson by her gentle smile.
Myrtle grew up in Bethel Presbyterian Church and Pernell in the Baptist church in Philadelphia. Myrtle and Pernell attended the First Presbyterian Church in Germantown for a number of years before Pernell joined in 1999 and Myrtle in 2000. They credit Viola Bethea for her quiet persistence in encouraging them to become members. For years Pernell was a faithful member of the Sunday morning Bible class.

Reverend Kevin Porter was recently recognized at the 22nd Annual Assembly of the Neighborhood Interfaith Movement (NIM).
We are so proud of Rev. Kevin and all the invaluable work he does in making Germantown a stronger, safer, and more vibrant community.

Meet Harriet Fell Kerr
Harriet Fell Kerr, who united with the First Presbyterian Church in Germantown in 1928, could just as easily have been a Quaker instead of a Presbyterian. After all, her father’s family had been Quakers since before 1680 when William Penn deeded property to them in Bucks County.
But Harriet’s Presbyterian mother prevailed, and Mr. Fell converted. By 1987, when First Church’s Session honored Harriet with a citation for nearly 60 years of service to the church, she had a master key to the buildings. Now this Rydal Park resident has been a member for 83 years.
She even met her husband, Don, in the hall in front of the Finney Room, named for the pastor who was serving the church when Harriet joined. Donald M. Kerr’s family had been members of the congregation since the 1880s.
