FPCG Member Spotlight
If you are a long time member of First Church you will remember seeing DJ as a small child walking into church holding the hand of his godmother, Contina Lundy.
DJ lives with his mother, Terry, across the street from the Lundy’s. He tells me they are his second family.
Now we see DJ as a young man of 17 years, enjoying his life and making plans for his future. We will always know him by his warm and engaging smile.
DJ attends Sunday School and is active in the youth group and is also a 7 year member of the FPCG drill team and drum corps that is now known as Germantown Exclusive. He plays the snare drum and has taught this skill to others.

The Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom School is a child centered program that focuses on children’s ability to make a difference. It motivates children to excel, strengthens children’s feelings of self worth and lets children know that they are loved and valued by caring adults and it is coming to Germantown.
Replacing the 20+ years of Summer Day Camp, we are proud to launch this new program that will operate seven weeks June 28 through August 13, 2010!
Our summer program will enable participants to experience over eighty hours of focused activities around reading and comprehension and collect six books for their personal library.

No, this is not a spread for your toast or bagel! Poetry Jam is a new feature in our monthly Windows church newsletter!
Do you like to write? Are you a poet? Will you share your verse with us, your church family?
If so, please send your submission to the attention of Sally Vaughn in the church office or you may bring it to church and drop in the mail slot with a notation to Sally. We look forward to reading your work!
In case you missed it last month, here is the delightful and spiritual poem written by young Kai Burton, a member of our middle school Youth Group and Sunday School:
What am I
I am a rare dog with spots
Also with a patch on my right eye and left ear.
I am the snuggle in my special stuffed animal George.
I am the film in my camera,
Not to mention the brightest flash of all.
I put the spin in my CD.
I give reason to the fashion tips,
In the pages of magazines.
I am the paint, the canvas, the brush and the pallet.
I am the reason for the autumn winds and the colorful leaves.
I am the warm ocean city waves,
And the most amazing funnel cake.
I am the amazing smells that fill the city of Philadelphia.
I am Kai Burton.
