FPCG Staff Gift:
Christmas is a time when we can show our appreciation to our staff for all they do during the year as they serve our congregation and community. Staff Appreciation Christmas Gifts will be given to Kevin, Eileen, David, Christian, Heidi, Kathy, Sally, Terry, Harry and Whaley just prior to the holiday.
You can share in these gifts by sending your contribution (checks made out to The First Presbyterian Church in Germantown) to the Personnel Committee. There will also be opportunities to make a contribution during the Sunday coffee hours.
Christmas Poinsettias:
The poinsettias in the sanctuary during the Christmas season are in memory and honor of our loved ones. As is our custom, these flowers will be delivered after Christmas to the sick and shut-in of our congregation.
Please contact Kathy Charlesworth or Sally Vaughn if you would like your family members’ or friends’ names included in the worship bulletin. The cost is $15 per line. Listings will be accepted until Monday, December 19.

Join a 365 Prayer Challenge and lift up First Pres
By Contina Lundy
We come from a rich history of believers, and we are still going strong. Join me for the next 365 days, starting December 1st to lift up the name of First Church. We will cover the building, the staff, the members, friends and our budget in prayer.
But first, a little background. Sometime ago I joined First Church, I won’t share the date because doing that will share my age! Anyway, I remember sharing my statement of faith and how important my prayer life was to me. Prayer was something that I didn’t ever question because of the strong foundation my parents, Mary and Frank Lundy, set for me. I understood at a young age that when you pray and believe God for who He is, great and wonderful things can occur.

And don’t forget to stay for dinner! Tickets for this year’s Christmas Dinner which follows the Concert are now available for purchase on Sundays after worship and during the week through the church office.

Workshop This Saturday, Nov 19th. Open to all FPCG members!
As Thanksgiving is approaching and then the Christmas season, many of us are involved in planning. Planning takes time and takes effort, but unless we plan, our intentions may not be realized. It is for this reason that the Session has entered into a Strategic Planning process this spring.
Elders have met twice with a consultant who is guiding the Session, in examining our mission and discerning what ministry and mission we are being called to do in the next five to ten years. Teams of officers and church members are currently being assembled to set goals and strategies for several ministry areas of The First Presbyterian Church in Germantown.

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth. -Acts 1:8
September was “Invite a Friend to Church” month at FPCG. Invite a Friend Sunday was September 25, and the Presbyterian Church USA Philadelphia Presbytery designated that day Evangelism Sunday. FPCG handed out buttons and postcards along with a graphic showing where to find these friends to invite.
Now that September is over, let’s not sit back and say, “That’s done.” Spreading the good news needs to happen every day … but it can be difficult. We worry about what others will think of us if we “evangelize.” All of our friends are already church members. We are too busy with the hustle and hassle of life.
