The Christian Fellowship Bible Study Class, a long standing FPCG institution on Sunday mornings, held its last class last month.
Ably led by Don Carlin for nearly a decade, the class was a reliable source of quality Bible teaching, thoughtful discussion on how to apply Christian principles in daily living, and meaningful fellowship and prayer support. The class was also a strong supporter of worldwide mission.
Generations of FPCG members and friends have been grateful for the spiritual nurture the class provided so that they, in turn, would be better equipped for Christian service to others.

Come join FPCG’s 20 & 30-somethings as we share a holiday dinner on Wednesday, December 16th at 5:30pm.
This is a potluck so please bring a side dish (bread, salad, dessert, drink, etc), and a candy bar for a candy exchange.
Children are welcome!! We will have a babysitter to stay in the nursery so we can enjoy conversation without needing to keep one eye on the kids. We are asking parents to bring $5 to help pay for the babysitter’s time and their dinner.
Please let Sheila Heyer-Rivera what side dish you will bring and how many kids will come with you so that we’ll know if we need more than one babysitter!
Sheila can be reached by phone 267.972.5459 or by email

We are excited to announce that our church will be a stop on The African Children’s Choir™ tour!
The choir will perform on Thursday, December 10th at 7:00pm.
The African Children’s Choir™ is made up of some of the neediest and most vulnerable children in their countries. Many have lost one or both parents to poverty or disease. The Choir helps these children break away from the everyday cycle of poverty and hopelessness.

Look at this picture and what do you see?
What is it that catches your attention? Is it the word “Stewardship?” Yes, it is that time of year again.
Now look beyond the word “Stewardship” at the picture. What do you see? Do your eyes draw you to the brick wall or to a cross?
For many people it is the brick wall that they see when it comes to stewardship. That wall stops them from thinking beyond their wallets. They don’t want to listen to God’s call for us to be generous Christian stewards. The brick wall prevents them from participating in the ministry of the church.
I hope you are one whose eyes and heart focus on the cross of this picture. If so, then you understand that stewardship is how we honor God and demonstrate our faith.
It is through our giving that the church is able to respond to the physical and spiritual needs of us and of others outside of our church.
It is because of the generous giving of members and friends that the Good News story of the Gospel (of which the cross is the symbol) can be proclaimed through the ministry and mission of The First Presbyterian Church in Germantown.

Who are We? Where are We Going?
Early in 2009, the Session commissioned a Congregational Study Team to review the ministry and mission of our church, evaluating what we do and also looking at how we resource our many programs and outreach activities.
They were to refer to former studies conducted and also to interview members of the congregation, and then report back to the Session with recommendations to guide us in our current ministry and future planning. The Congregational Study Team, Sherry Archer, Cathy Coho, Peter Smith and Sam Whyte (chairperson), shared their report with the Session last month. The Session is deeply grateful for the Team’s commitment to the process, the generous time that they gave to the project, and for their thorough report.
The work of the Congregational Study Team may be complete, but there is more to be done. All Session Committees have now been asked to review the seven recommendations of the report and offer suggestions for how each can be addressed. The Session will hear from the committees and spend its December meeting determining the next steps.
