More Than Enough
Stewardship Reflections by Lois Nafziger
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” - 2 Corinthians 9:6
My dad planted fruits and vegetables to sell to earn extra money in addition to his day job to support our large family. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians reminds me of those summer farming days.
In the spring Mom and Dad and all of the children who were old enough were out in the fields planting the summer crops. Dad showed us exactly how close to each other to drop the seeds or young plants so that we would have a bountiful harvest. We worked in pairs, one child would drop the seeds or plants ad the other would cover up and plant.
The rains came, the sun shone, the plants grew and then we harvested the crops. The more we planted the bigger the harvest. God gives us resources and talents to use for him. When we use and invest our time and abilities, God will multiply our investment with even more to give back to Him.
This is stewardship season. This is the time of year to think about what we have and how we can use it to continue God's programs here at our church. If we invest, God will multiply. We need to invest generously so that God will give us a generous harvest. What are we willing to plant this year so that the harvest will be bountiful?
