Bicentennial Celebration

October 2008 marks the launch of our 200th anniversary celebration!

In this Bicentennial year, we will celebrate God's work in our past, honor God's call for our present, and dedicate ourselves to fulfilling God's dream for our future!

For the last two years, we have been planning a wide array of events that will encourage us to look back and to dream about the future, while celebrating who we are now. We will welcome back former ministers, Aaron Gast, Scottie Griffin andDonald Simpson. Each will be leading a worship service during ourbicentennial.

DirectoryPhotoIn October our new church photo-directory will be unveiled to help usknow one another better. This directory will be a snapshot of the current members and friends of the church’s long line of congregational members andfriends.  This directory will be special in that it will not only include thepictures and addresses of our membership, but also will highlight some of ourhistory.  It will provide a wealth of helpful information about our churchand our ministry.

BuildingA couple of projects are being planned for our building that will markthis special 200th anniversary. During the year, we will mount a plaque on the outside of our building to comemmorate 200 years of ministry inGermantown.  We will also be installing a timeline in the narthex of the sanctuary, outlining events that have taken place in the world, Germantown and FirstChurch since 1809.

Airy for ourgrand 200th Anniversary banquet.  A video celebrating the 200 years ofministry of our congregation will be premiered, and you just might be in it!

During this bicentennial year, a special congregational trip is beingplanned with a LANDS OF THE BIBLE cruise!  We are leaving on March 11 foran eleven-day adventure visiting places that we read about in the scriptures .. . places like Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Corinth and Ephesus.  We begin ourtrip amid the pyramids of Egypt and end among the ruins of Athens.  If youwould like to know more about this trip, please call the church office.
