First Church is a unique, thriving urban church in the heart of Germantown (northwest section of Philadelphia). Our congregation has a richness of diversity across many areas, including age, race and ethnicity, culture and religious background. We are a welcoming congregation with a significant mix of urban and suburban members.

In the 1990’s, the Session of First Church adopted and implemented a policy of integration: We, the members of The First Presbyterian Church in Germantown, seek to be an integrated congregation, inclusive and supportive of people both rich and poor, from all walks of life and racial backgrounds. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church and that it is God’s will, through Christ, that we should live together in the unity of the Spirit.

as it truly defines who we are and who we feel called to be.
